Employer: Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center

 

Position Description: The Hummingbird Program provides medical, social, and spiritual support to children with complex medical needs. Nicole acts as the main contact between The Hummingbird program and other hospital offices and community healthcare providers. She also facilitates the provision of support services for families with a child that has complex medical needs as well as offer medical, spiritual and social support to pediatric patients.

 

Salary Range: $35,000+ depending on education and experience

 

Courses Found Most Helpful: Sociology of Aging; Death, Grief, and Caring; Dynamics of Family Interaction.

 

How the HDFS Program Has Helped Prepare Her for Work: "The family studies program allowed me to learn about the diversity of what "family" is and working with various populations."
