CUB SCOUT PROGRAMS

Come to the Oakes Museum for a fun-filled learning experience and let our trained staff help your troop meet badge requirements!

Our programs last 2 hours and all supplies are provided.

Program Costs:

Siblings and other adults $8

Tiger Scouts
* Let’s Go Outdoors - Observe the weather, take a hike, collect leaves and make card from leaf rubbings.
* Plant a Seed - Learn about how plants grow, different types of seeds and plant a seed to take home.
* Learn About Animals/The Show Must Go On - Learn about an animal then make a puppet of that animal and use your puppet to present the information to your troop.


Wolf Scouts
*Start a Collection - Begin your rock collection here!
* American Indian Lore - See some of the museum’s Native American artifacts and make an instrument
* Birds - Learn common birds, what birds eat and what materials are used for their nests.


Bear Scouts
*American Indian Life - Learn about the Native Americans who lived in Pennsylvania, what games they would have played, and make a model of a typical shelter.


Webelos Scouts
* Forester Badge - Be ready to hike through the forest learning about the trees found there and how they grow.
* Geologist Badge - Discover how rocks are formed and used in everyday life. Learn the different types of rocks as well as view the museum’s geology collection.
* Naturalist Badge - Tour the museum. learn about the animals in Pennsylvania and discover how humans affect the balance of nature

Scouts can also work towards their Belt Loops and Pins in the following subjects: Wildlife Conservation, Geology and Collecting.
