Come to the Oakes Museum of Natural History for a fun-filled learning experience and let our trained staff help your troop meet badge requirements!

Our programs last 2 hours and supplies are provided. We do not provide any of the badges, belt loops or pins.

Girl Scouts are encouraged to contact us to ask how we can help you meet a badge requirement!  We have offered insect, animal, geology, and museum discovery programs for girl scout troops.   

Program Costs:

Wolf Scouts

* American Indian Lore - See some of the museum's Native American artifacts and make an instrument.
* Birds - Learn common birds, what birds eat and what materials are used for their nests.

(These two can both be completed in the timeframe.)

Bear Scouts

*American Indian Life - Learn about the Native Americans who lived in Pennsylvania, what games they would have played, and make a model of a typical shelter.

Webelos Scouts 

* Forester Badge - Be ready to hike through the forest learning about the trees found there and how they grow. 
* Geologist Badge - Discover how rocks are formed and used in everyday life. Learn the different types of rocks as well as view the museum's geology collection. 
* Naturalist Badge - Tour the museum. learn about the animals in Pennsylvania and discover how humans affect the balance of nature.
