Go ED Africa
Based in Kampala, Uganda, and Kigali, Rwanda, the Go ED Program in Africa engages students with the reality of global poverty. Students witness growth and struggle within these developing countries. Uganda is repairing its social structure after civil wars in the 1980s, and the new government of Rwanda has been working to build peace and unity since its start in 1994.
Students must have completed two full years of college and have at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify for the program. Will accept sophomores in extenuating circumstances. Students are required to attend all Messiah-run pre-departure orientation sessions the semester before studying abroad as well as half-day reentry retreat upon returning to campus the following semester.
Students will meet their third language/cross-cultural requirement by participating in this program. Students will not earn 3 credits, rather the requirement will be waived.
Fee covers tuition, housing, meals, *round-trip airfare, educational excursions, pre-departure, and re-entry orientation. Note: additional fees students may encounter include (but are not limited to) local transportation, visas, passports, immunizations, and course fees.
For comparison, a typical semester in Grantham for 2013-2014 is $19,655.
Costs: 2014-2015 – Messiah College is currently reviewing its parameters and pricing structure for study abroad programs. Costs for 2014-2015 will be available in November 2013 and will be posted on this website as soon as they become available.
