Contemporary Music Center
Students interested in contemporary music–as artists or in executive roles–will discover firsthand the inside workings of the music industry. Each semester students will
create, produce, and market a CD. Nashville provides an ideal setting for students to explore what it means to be a Christian in today's music industry.
Goals and Objectives
The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities mission is to prepare students "academically and creatively for potential careers in the music industry . . . the program seeks to develop artists and music executives with a Christ-centered vision for music content, production, and delivery."
Requirements
Students must have completed two full years of college and have at least a 2.75 GPA to qualify for the program. Students are required to attend all Messiah-run pre-departure orientation sessions the semester before studying abroad as well as half-day reentry retreat upon returning to campus the following semester.
Credits
The sixteen credits earned may meet general education or major requirements. Courses taken will appear on Messiah transcripts with letter grades. Please refer to the grade conversion chart. Students should register for:

Participation in this program does not meet cross-cultural requirements.
Costs: 2013 - 2014 $19,653, plus $300 deposit
Fee covers tuition, housing, educational excursions, pre-departure, and re-entry orientation. A weekly community meal and meals while students are on tour are included. Students should be prepared to purchase the rest of their meals. Note: additional fees students may encounter include local transportation. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Nashville.
For comparison, a typical semester in Grantham for 2013-2014 is $19,655.
