Students take classes with English peers at the University of Gloucestershire, selecting courses from the school’s 40 academic disciplines. Program participants live in student housing, which offers easy access to the university’s social activities. Programs in China, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Mexico, and Spain give students a wide range of options.
Goals and Objectives
BCA Study Abroad attempts to integrate American students into an overseas university, allowing them to broaden their horizons, to experience different cultures, and to practice speaking another modern language.
Students must have completed one full years of college (completed 24 credits) and must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to qualify. Recommendations are a large part of the application process. Students may apply to England and Greece during their sophomore year. Students are required to attend all Messiah-run pre-departure orientation sessions the semester before studying abroad as well as half-day reentry retreat upon returning to campus the following semester.

The 15 or 16 credits students earn each semester may meet some general education or major requirements. Courses taken will appear on Messiah transcripts with letter grades. Please refer to the grade conversion chart.

“I became close with the other Christians on campus, and made it a point to seek out friends in the local church I attended, Trinity Church. The worship there was a bit different than what I was used to, but it was a good opportunity for me to experience God in a new way.”
