Semesters, Academic Calendar, and Course Schedules

Semesters

The Counseling Program offers the majority of its courses in eight-week terms during the traditional fall and spring semesters.

Specifically, Fall is subdivided into Late Summer (Session A), Early Fall (Session B), Late Fall (Session C); and Spring is subdivided into Early Spring (Session D), Late Spring (Session E), and Early Summer (Session F).

Fall = Late Summer, Early Fall, Late Fall
Spring = Early Spring, Late Spring, Early Summer.

The recommended entry point for the Counseling Program is Session A (Late Summer).  Following completion of that course, students would ideally complete courses in Session B, C, D, E, and F. (See Course Sequence). However, since students may be accepted into the program throughout the academic year, some students will be allowed to begin their classes at other points of the academic year.

Registration for these different terms, however, will follow a more traditional scheduling format, meaning that students will need to register for multiple sessions at one time.

During the Fall registration period (around April 1), students should register for courses in Late Summer, Early Fall, and Late Fall.

During the Spring registration period (around Nov. 1), students should register for courses being offered in Early Spring, Late Spring, and Early Summer.

Late Summer (Session A) is a summer intensive course that requires students to be on campus for one full week.  Following the week on campus, students will be required to participate in two weeks of online instruction. All other courses, with the exception of practicum and internships, are conducted online over an eight-week period.

This schedule allows for one week breaks between eight week courses, time off for major holidays, and three to four consecutive weeks of unscheduled time between the close of Early Summer (Session F) and the beginning of Late Summer (Session A). Specific dates for these terms and sessions for the next three academic years are:
