Exemplifying Messiah College’s commitment to academic excellence, the College Honors Program strives to equip students for lives of leadership and service by fostering an intellectually rigorous Christian worldview.
The program curriculum is comprised of credit-bearing interdisciplinary honors courses and a senior honors project. Additionally, students meet outside of the classroom to participate in congresses and discourses— discussing timely issues and interacting with guests to Messiah’s campus. Participants also receive opportunities to attend cultural events throughout the academic year, on and off campus.
Designed for students who demonstrate high scholarly ability early in their academic career, incoming students from all of the College’s liberal arts and applied sciences majors are eligible to participate. Upon graduation, students receive special recognition at commencement and on their College transcript. Moreover, in keeping with the College’s commitment to educating the whole person, students in the Honors Program are encouraged to participate in the College’s many cocurricular opportunities.
Honors students are also members of the ski club, gospel choir, Young Life, rec sports teams, College Republicans, Host Program, Student Government Association, Clarion yearbook staff, The Swinging Bridge newspaper staff, music ministry teams, outreach teams, WVMM staff, and athletics teams, among others.
