A broad range of opportunities leads to distinct advantages for communication majors at Messiah College.

As a communication major at Messiah College, you’ll enjoy several distinct advantages. First, our close proximity to Harrisburg, the state capital, provides numerous internship opportunities in television, radio, film, journalism, marketing, public relations, government communications, and more.

There’s also Messiah College Philadelphia Campus (MCPC) at Temple University, where you’ll have the opportunity to live, learn, and work in a major cultural and urban center, or participate in Temple University's L.A. Internship program in California. We also encourage communication students to study abroad in places such as Greece, England, Russia, and even Martha’s Vineyard.

Overall, among the most unique aspects of the communication major at Messiah is that it is studied through the eyes of a Christian scholar, allowing you to integrate your faith in the field of communication.  And, it is the only major of its kind in the whole Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) that teaches both film and high definition video production.

As a communication major at Messiah College, you’ll be able to:

  • Enhance your portfolio by writing for the student newspaper.
  • Study at the Messiah College Philadelphia campus where you’ll take classes in conjunction with Temple University and have various opportunities for internships in the city.
  • Land an internship at area businesses and/or the campus radio station, WVMM90.7.
  • Choose a double major or minor, study abroad, participate in cross-culturals, and experience hands-on opportunities.
  • Explore topics such as rhetoric, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communications.
  • Join the Messiah College chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA) or earn a membership to Zeta Psi Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, honor society of the National Communication Association.
  • Study with outstanding Christian faculty members who are not only highly qualified academically but also have extensive experience in their fields.
