Campus Safety
As a Messiah student, your well-being is important to us. That’s why we are committed to providing you with a safe and secure learning and living environment.
To help ensure your safety on campus, the College maintains a Department of Safety. This professional campus safety and security department consists of:
- 15 full-time professional staff
- 2 part-time professional staff
- 3 dispatchers
- student safety escorts
- various support personnel
The department of safety is not a police force and is not authorized by law to carry firearms or exercise powers of arrest but all officers carry radios and are trained in:
- emergency medical response
- CPR
- first aid
- crisis intervention
- crime prevention
- sexual assault response
- human relations skills
Safety officers perform the following duties:
- enforcement of College policies and parking codes
- campus security patrols
- escort service
- emergency response
A 24-hour dispatch center in the Eisenhower Campus Center enables immediate contact with a safety officer.
Messiah College supports a substance-free community.
