Campus Safety

As a Messiah student, your well-being is important to us.  That’s why we are committed to providing you with a safe and secure learning and living environment.

To help ensure your safety on campus, the College maintains a Department of Safety. This professional campus safety and security department consists of:

  • 14 full-time professional staff
  • 3 part-time professional staff
  • 3 dispatchers
  • student safety escorts
  • various support personnel

The department of safetyactively patrols the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers patrol the grounds and buildings by vehicle, on foot, and by bike patrols. The department is not a police force and is not authorized by law to carry firearms or exercise powers of arrest but all officers carry radios and are trained in:

  • emergency medical response
  • CPR
  • first aid
  • crisis intervention
  • crime prevention
  • sexual assault response
  • human relations skills

Safety officers perform the following duties:

  • enforcement of College policies and parking codes
  • campus security patrols
  • escort service
  • emergency response

A 24-hour dispatch center in the Eisenhower Campus Center enables immediate contact with a safety officer.

Messiah College supports a substance-free community.
