Canadian Students

Since Messiah College looks for diversity in our student body, we encourage students who are not citizens of the United States to apply for admission.

To be offered admission to Messiah College, a student must have superior academic credentials. We are one of the more academically competitive Christian colleges in the United States. We are also very firm in our conviction that Jesus Christ will be preeminent on our campus. Therefore, we ask that all students who enroll at Messiah College live, in the words of our motto, to make Christ preeminent. All students are expected to demonstrate Christian values.

The information that follows should answer the basic questions that usually arise as a student goes through the process of selecting a college. Messiah College has a limited amount of scholarship aid for non - United States citizens and competition for these scholarships is very great.

The cost at Messiah for the 2007-2008 school year is $32,074.  It is possible however to reduce this amount by qualifying for academic and international student scholarships.  The amount awarded normally ranges between $1000 and $15,000 per year. Please consider the cost of our institution before you continue with your application process.  Students who have financial hardship may want to try and find sponsorship through churches, organizations, etc. This will be the student's responsibility.

Please read the following items carefully before you apply

1. Qualified students with evidence of good scholastic standing, adequate preparation, a good knowledge of English, and a sincere desire to be part of a Christian community will be considered for admission.

Application is made to the Office of Admissions on forms furnished by that office. You must ask school officials to submit, on your behalf, evidence of your academic standing. These records must be in English and bear the signature of an official of your school. These records must include the following:

  1. Evidence of courses or subjects completed and grades earned during the four or six years preceding university standing.
  2. Official copies of diplomas or certificates required in your country as evidence of qualification for university entrance.
  3. Evidence of courses or subjects completed, grades earned, and time allotted to each course during university study, if any has been done.

Students coming to the United States for the express purpose of study and expecting to return to their respective countries should apply for the "F" student visa. It is granted only on the presentation of an official notice of admission to a college in the U.S.A., which is called the Certificate of Eligibility, Form I-20.

2. Financing your education in the USA is extremely important. You will need to make all arrangements before leaving your country. Arrangements for scholarships and any other needed financial assistance must be completed before arriving in the United States. All international students are required to contribute at least $16,000 toward the cost of attending Messiah College.

Documentation that you will be able to pay for your college costs and a tuition deposit of at least $200 will be required before the form I-20 can be sent to you.

Please see the page Family and Sponsor Contribution Form for more information. You will be required to return this form (filled in) as a part of the application process.

3. If you apply for and are granted admission to Messiah College, you will be assigned to a room in one of the College residence halls. Dormitory rooms are equipped with beds, desks, chairs, closet space, and bookshelves. All students are required to abide by College regulations. The residence halls are situated on the campus and designed to contribute to the student's educational experience.

A Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card is required in order to pay the $30.00 application fee for your online application. If you do not have a credit card you may print out the online application and mail it. If you have any questions please contact Cindy Blount at cblount@messiah.edu.
