In service learning,
we find an answer.

are not theoretical —
that our gifts have a vital place,
that our actions can be
an influence for good.

Messiah is an academic community profoundly
committed to worshipping God, whose members feel strongly called to care for those who struggle. Immediately after arriving for orientation,
students are in the neighborhoods of Harrisburg weeding the
flower beds at a women’s shelter or hanging sheetrock
in a Habitat for Humanity home.
Opportunities
to do more are abundant through
Outreach Teams, Service Plunge Days, ministry
groups, and community agencies. Students build a thriving
connection to a broader, more complicated world.
Grounded in a culture of worship,
exposed to compelling realities, Messiah students are taught that they can and should make a difference.
They develop a sense of calling and their lives become part
of something larger — an opportunity to do good work
in God’s world.
