The AMIGO Mentoring Program
The AMIGO Mentoring Program will provide a peer mentorship opportunity to First Year/ Transfer underrepresented students. Through this program, Amigo mentors will provide guidance on how to better transition to college while providing an insight to leadership opportunities on campus. Amigos will be matched based on their area of leadership interest.
Amigo Mentee Expectations
- Commitment to be part of the program for the entire academic year 2011-2012
- Attend MISP Welcome Reception on August 29
- Start online communication with Amigo mentor over the summer
- Have two (2) informal meetings with Amigo mentor a month (lunch/dinner in Lottie, attending an organizational meeting, study session, etc.)
- Attend a monthly Amigo event
Amigo Mentee Benefits
- Receive one-on-one peer guidance on how to manage schoolwork
- Receive one-on-one peer introduction to leadership area of interest
- Invitation to special events focused on helping your transition to College
- Receive certificate of participation at the end of the year
Application Process and Selection Criteria
- Have paid a pre-registration deposit to Messiah College
- Applications will be received on a rolling basis until spots have been filled.
- Applications submitted by 4/28/11 will be given priority.
- Apply online or print out the application form.
