Admissions Requirements and Policies


The Admissions Committee seeks to admit those applicants who are most likely to benefit from and contribute to the Messiah College community.

 

Applications Evaluated on:

 

  • Student’s  preparation for college-level courses
  • Relative strength of student’s academic program
  • Standardized test results (Scholastic Aptitude Test [SAT] or American College Test [ACT] scores)
  • Application essay
  • Program of study desired
  • Written recommendations and cocurricular activities

 

Application Decisions

 

  • Made on a rolling basis – (first-come, first-served)
  • Reviewed when all required materials are received
  • Notification within approximately three weeks of receiving all required materials

 

Trustee’s Scholarship and Honors Program

 

  • To be considered, complete application by January 15

Admissions Requirements

 

  • High school transcript*
  • SAT or ACT scores* (for Standard Choice applicants)
  • Interview (Write Choice applicants)
  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school* (or the equivalent)

  • High School Courses
    • 4 units academic English
    • at least 2 units (preferably 3 or more) academic math
    • at least 2 units (preferably 3 or more) in academic natural sciences
    • 2 or more units academic social studies
    • 2 or more units foreign language
    • 4 units additional electives
  • Christian Life Recommendation form
  • $200 preregistration deposit
    • Preferred within 30 days of acceptance for fall semester admission
    • Preferred within 30 days of acceptance for spring semester admission
    • Half of fee applied to first semester, half to second semester
    • Refunded if no space is available or if Admissions office is notified by May 1 for fall semester and by Dec. 1 for spring semester.
    • Recommended: information session / campus visit

 

 

Advanced Placement (AP)

Students may receive college credit through the Advanced Placement (AP) Examination of the College Entrance Examination Board.  College credit is typically granted when an advanced placement exam grade of 3, 4, or 5 is received.  Official transcripts of AP test results should be sent to Messiah College Admissions Office for evaluation.

 

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Messiah College recognizes the International Baccalaureate and accepts scores of 4 or better on Higher-Level examinations and scores of 5 or better for Subsidiary courses as a basis for course credit and advanced placement.*

 

Credit by Examination (CLEP)

Messiah College honors the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). Credit will be granted for successfully passing courses through examination.  Official transcripts of CLEP test results should be sent to the Messiah College Admissions Office for evaluation.*
