Grantham, PA — For the first time in seven years, the Messiah College Athletics Hall of Honor will grow in membership.

The Falcon Athletic Network is pleased to announce former men’s soccer standout Todd Suessmuth and former track and field star Kelly (Kegarise) Suessmuth as the next inductees into the institution’s most esteemed athletics’ community over the weekend of Feb. 4-5, joining 19 other members which comprise the Hall of Honor.

“Todd and Kelly’s induction is long overdue, and we’re excited to resume our Hall of Honor ceremonies with them,” said Jack Cole, Messiah interim director of athletics. “We anticipate a very enjoyable weekend.”

Todd Suessmuth graduated in 1990 as the Falcons’ all-time leading scorer and point-getter, helping the now storied program to its first two NCAA ‘Final Four’ appearances as a freshman and a junior. His 165 career points are still tops in the Messiah soccer all-time record book, while he now shares the all-time career goals title (68) with 2004 graduate Matt Bills.

Suessmuth was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American, earning Second Team status following his junior and senior seasons. With Suessmuth in uniform, Messiah posted an overall record of 64-15-2.

Kelly, meanwhile, was a two-time All-American in the sport of track and field, earning the honor as a sophomore in the long jump and as a member of the team’s 1,600-meter relay team as a senior. A 1989 graduate, Kegarise was a three-time conference champion and national qualifier in the long jump, and a one-time conference champ in the triple jump.

She held three indoor school records and two outdoor school records upon graduating, and still holds the indoor mark in the 60-yard dash (:07.4) and the outdoor record in the long jump (18 feet, 6 inches). Despite graduating nearly 22 years ago, her name still appears eight times in the Messiah outdoor track and field Top 10 lists.

Todd and Kelly married in August of 1991.

The tandem will officially be inducted into the Messiah Athletics Hall of Honor the evening of Friday, Feb. 4 at the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill, Pa. Former men’s soccer head coach Layton Shoemaker will present the honor to Todd, while former track and field head coach Doug Miller will bestow the accolade to Kelly. Attire will be business casual.

“We hope that many friends and supporters of Todd and Kelly can make it out to West Shore Country Club that Friday evening,” Cole said. “We think it will be a fun night of fellowship and gratitude.”

Todd and Kelly will also be honored between the men’s and women’s basketball games against Alvernia University Saturday, Feb. 5.
