2008 Season - Senior Started 12 games as the #1 starter on Messiah's pitching staff. . .threw 5 complete games (1st on team and in Commonwealth) including 2 shutouts. . .led the conference and team with 79 innings pitched and 7 wins. . .struck out 43 batters (2nd on team, 4th in Commonwealth) while compiling a 3.42 ERA (1st on team, 2nd in Commonwealth) . . . Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 7th. . .earned Second-Team All Commonwealth honors. . . finishes Messiah career 5th in wins (16), 9th in appearances (38), 8th in starts (26), 9th in complete games (11), 5th in winning percentage, and 8th in innings pitched (185). 2007 Season – Junior 2006 Season – Sophomore 2005 Season – Freshman Appeared in 8 games (7 in relief). . .struck out 11 batters in 14 innings-pitched. . .won first game at Messiah in Conference Championship game vs. Elizabethtown May 7. High School 3-year letter winner for Boyertown High School. . .pitched on team that was ranked 23rd in the country as a senior and 2nd in the state before post-season. . .pitched on legion team ranked 1st in the state. . .Won the Nathan Wheeler Pitching Award and Legion Achievement Award. . .as a senior, went 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA. . .also participated in soccer for 4 years and basketball for 2 years. Personal Daniel Thomas Kern was born August 28, 1985 in Perkasie, PA. . .son of Thomas and Joann Kern. . .has two younger brothers, David and Michael and a younger sister Jessica. . .Accounting Major with a statistics minor holding a 3.6 GPA. . .will be starting an auditing job at McKonly & Asbury in September. . .chose Messiah over Elizabethtown.
