FBoth Rhoads and Schell were key to Messiah’s NCAA Regional Championship, with Rhoads starring in both the pitcher’s circle and the plate and Schell doing major damage offensively.
Rhoads won three of the team’s four regional games as the Falcons’ starting pitcher, tossing 16 and a third innings while striking out 27 batters — allowing only six hits all weekend. She did not give up a run.
At the plate, Rhoads batted .500 and hit two dingers — her first home runs of the season — knocking in five RBI as well.
Schell batted .417 over the four-game weekend and also added a homer, knocking in five RBI as well.
Messiah makes its fourth trip to the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend.
