Abi Buchler....(March 1st)........

This weeks player in the spotlight is #14 Abi Buchler. Abi is a junior from Fenwick Island, DE. She attended Indian River High School where she was an infielder.
Abi is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Math secondary education and after college she plans on getting a job as a math teacher and making a full pot of coffee to take to school.
Her family lives in Fenwick Island, DE. She has four siblings, Baptiste, Jake, Caleb and Sarah. We hope to see them at lots of games this season. Abi enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Abi is.... that her favorite food is Tacos. Her favorite movie is the Harry Potter series. Her favorite song is Don't Stop Believin' - by the Glee cast. Abi added a new question and wants everyone to know her favorite book is Gone with the Wind. Her favorite TV show is Glee. Her favorite place to vacation is right at home on Fenwick Island at the beach. Abi can solve a rubics cube in record time and she owns a brown pen just to color in tree trunks when doodling in class. When she is not playing softball, she enjoys waiting on older couples at her summer restaurant job, reading on her kindle, solving math problems and watching repeat episodes of Glee and of course drinking coffee.

Jessica Brown.....(Feb. 1st)........

This weeks player in the spotlight is #13 Jessica Brown. Jessica is a junior from Lititz, PA. She attended Warwick High School where she was an infielder.
Jess is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing and after college she plans on getting a job as a nurse and hopefully travelling some.
Her family lives in Lititz, PA. She has one sibling MacKenzie. We hope to see them at lots of games this season. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Jessica is.... that her favorite food is bacon. Her favorite movie is Remember The Titans. Her favorite song is anything by Taylor Swift. Her favorite TV show is The Office. Her favorite place to vacation is Virginia Beach. When she is not playing softball, she enjoys doing anything that involves playing any sports, going to the beach, napping and just being with friends and enjoying music.
Her most embarrasing athletic moment was having an open goal in field hockey and instead of hitting the ball, she missed it and fell flat on her face - whoops! Krista Ammon.....(Dec. 1st)........

This weeks player in the spotlight is #24 Krista Ammon. Krista is a freshman from Nazareth, PA. She attended Nazareth High School where she was a catcher and 1st baseman.
Krista is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Secondary Education with a Math minor. After college she plans on getting a job, moving into an apartment and getting married.
Her family lives in Nazareth, PA. She has two siblings Katie and Madison. We hope to see them at the lots of games this season. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Krista is.... that her favorite foods are chicken and pasta salad. Her favorite movie is the Blind Side. Her favorite song is Unstoppable by Rascall Flatts. Her favorite TV show is NCIS. Her favorite place to vacation is Arizona. When she is not playing softball she likes to swim, play sports, and hangout with friends.

Taylor Hatt......(Oct. 1st)..........

This weeks player in the spotlight is #18 Taylor Hatt. Taylor is a sophomore from Mount Joy, PA. She attended Donegal High School where she was a catcher. Last season for the falcons, Taylor played in 15 games for the falcons where she played flawlessly behind the plate posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. At bat Taylor batted .190 for the falcons with 1 double and 1 homerun.
Taylor is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Health and Physical Education. After college she plans on getting a job, coaching, getting married, having a family, and living a happy, fulfilled life.
Her family lives in Mount Joy, PA. She has three siblings Tori, Tianna, and Tommy. Her family lives only approx. 45 minutes from Messiah. We hope to see them at the lots of games this season. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Taylor is.... that her favorite food is mint chocolate chip ice cream. Her favorite movie is the Last Song. Her favorite musical performer is Taylor Swift. Her favorite TV show is Jersey Shore. Her favorite places to vacation are Bethany Beach, DE and Long Lake, NY. Her entire family including her parents all have first names that start with T (cute). When she is not playing softball she likes to play any sport, have a good time with friends, go shopping, eat and laugh.

Myranda Cox (Sept. 1st).............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #19 Myranda Cox. Myranda is a sophomore from Halifax, PA. She attended Halifax Area High School where she was a catcher. Last season for the falcons, Myranda played in 12 games for the falcons where she played flawlessly behind the plate posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Myranda is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing. She plans on waiting on God to show her what to do next after college in the nursing field.
Her family lives in Halifax, PA. She has two siblings, Sami and Morgan. Her family lives only approx. 45 minutes from Messiah. We hope to see them at the lots of games this season. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.

When she is not playing softball she likes to Sing, play sports and spend time with family and friends.

2010 Season
Tori Hatt (May 1st.............)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #6 Tori Hatt. Tori is a senior from Mount Joy, PA. She attended Donegal High School where she pitched and played outfield. Last season for the falcons, Tori batted .286 with 2 RBI's. She played in 35 games for her team with a .perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, as well as appearing in 1 game pitching.
Toril is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences. She will graduate this summer after doing an internship. She plans on gaining a job in her field and possibly coaching after graduating.
Her family lives in Mount Joy, PA. She has three siblings, Taylor is a freshman softball player at Messiah as well as her sister Tianna and borther Tommy. Her family lives only 30 minutes from Messiah. We hope to see them at the remaining playoff games this season. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Tori is.... that her favorite food is wings. Her favorite movies are Twighlight and For the Love of the game. Her favorite musical performers are ColdPlay and Dave Matthews Band. Her favorite TV show is SportsCenter. Her favorite place to vacation is Bethany Beach! Lindsay Hall (April 15........)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #7 Lindsay Hall. Lindsay is a senior from Fairfax, VA. She attended Robinson Secondary School where she played third base. Last season for the falcons, Lindsay batted .407, with 3 doubles, 2 triples and 22 RBI's. She played in 45 games for her team with a .942 fielding percentage. Lindsay was also named an all-conference player as well as an All-Region player at third base.
Hall is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Pyschology. She plans to serve overseas as a missionary and eventually attend graduate school for psychology.
Her family lives in Farifac, VA. She has one older sister - Ashleigh. Her family lives about three hours away. Somehow they still make it to lots of games. We hope to see them at lots of games again this year. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Lindsay is.... that she loves mostly Italian food. Her favorite movie is The Patriot. Her favorite musical performers are Jack Johnson and Nickel Creek. Her favorite TV show is Prison Break. Her favorite place to vacation is Hawaii! Can we all come with you when you go? She loves to play guitar, write in her journal, ski and learn new sports.

Her family lives in Fenwick Island, DE. She has four siblings - Baptiste-26, Jake-18, Caleb-17, and Sarah-12. Her family lives about three hours away. Somehow they still make it to lots of games. What you don't know about Abi is.... that she loves tacos even though she lives on the beach - her favorite food isn't seafood - it's tacos! Her favorite movie is Mulan. Her favorite song is Beauty in the Breakdown by The Scene Aesthetic. Her favorite TV shows are 24 and Jon & Kate Plus 8. Her favorite place to vacation is right at home as she lives on the beach! (PS - can we all come down and vacation there too!) She loves to laugh (have you heard her laugh - it's awesome!), play competitive board/card games, sport numerous tan lines, and witness hurricanes and thunderstorms at the beach.
Her most memorable and embarrasing moment was getting hit on the arm by Brownie's throw and throwing up while looking extremely pale at the National Championships practice session. The athletic trainer said she is the only person she has seen that has NOT broken a bone but still threw up! Mary Ann Becker (Feb. 15......)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #25 Mary Ann Becker. Mary Ann is a freshman from Severn, MD. She attended Old Mill High School where she played infield. Last season for her HS team, Mary Ann batted .321, with 4 doubles, 2 triples and 10 RBI's. She played in 17 games for her team with a .950 fielding percentage.
Becker is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing. She plans to pursue a career in the nursing field in shock trauma.
Her family lives in Severn, MD. She has two brothers, Jacob and Thomas. Her family lives about an hour away. We hope to see them at lots of games. She enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Mary Ann is.... that she loves crabs and homade cooking from her mom and grandmom as her favorite foods. Her favorite movie is Twilight and Transformers. Her favorite musical artist is Rascall Flatts. Her favorite TV shows are Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Secret Life of the American Teenager. Her favorite places to vacation are anywhere there is a beach! She loves to shop, just hang out, snowboard, sleep, read, talk and play Wii.

Last season for the falcons, Jess batted ..161, with 1 RBI and several sacrifices. She played in 27 games for the falcons in the outfield with a perfect fielding percentage.
Brown is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing. She plans to pursue a career in the nursing field.
Jess' family lives in Lititz, PA. They do manage to support Jess at many games. We are glad to have seen them at lots of games and hope to see them at many more. She has 1 younger sister and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.

Abby Bergakker ( Dec. 1st.........)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #17 Abby Bergakker. Abby is a senior from Grand Rapids, MI. Abby attended North Pointe Christian High School where she played catcher and second base. Last season for the falcons, Abby batted .365, with 9 doubles, 1 triple and 4 homeruns and 15 RBI's. She played in 44 games for the falcons at catcher with a .992 fielding percentage. Abby was named to the MAC Commonwealth All - Conference team and was also an All-tournament team player in the 2009 National Championships.
Bergakker is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Sport Management. She plans to work in Sport Management either back at home in Grand Rapids or in the Philadelphia area after graduation.
Abby's family lives in Grand Rapids, MI. They do manage to fly in from time to time and see lots of games. We are glad to have seen them at lots of games and hope to see them at many more. She has 1 older sister and 1 older brother and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Abby is.... that she loves Pizza as her favorite food. She loves so many movies that she cannot pick one. Her favorite musical artist is the Dave Matthews Band. Her favorite TV show is How I met your mother. Her favorite place to vacation is the Caribbean. She loves to travel, and experience new things, and spend time with friends and family in Michigan. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Abby played second base her freshman and sophomore year at Messiah and switched to catcher last season - which is amazing b/c of her all - conference honors and all tournament honors in the National Championship! Nicole Adams (October 15..............)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #20 Nicole Adams. Nicole is a senior from Carlisle, PA. Nicole attended Boiling Springs High School where she played first base. Last season for the falcons, Nicole batted .278, with 8 doubles, 4 homeruns and 31 RBI's. She played in all 47 games for the falcons at first base with a .988 fielding percentage.
Adams is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Psychology. She plans to work with children in her field of Behavioral Psychology after graduation.
Nicole's family lives in Carlisle, PA within 30 minutes of campus. We are glad to have seen them at lots of games and hope to see them at many more. She has 1 younger sister and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Nicole is.... that she loves Pretzels and Chicken (seperate of course). She loves the movie - Mulan and Get Smart. Her favorite song is Heart of Life by John Mayer and any coldplay song. Her favorite TV show is Law and Order:SVU. She loves going to the beach and hammocking under a plam tree. (Can you take us all with you?) If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Nicole likes to organize - list making makes her feel complete. Her most embarrasing moment was at age 9 when she attempted to do a cartwheel and crashed to the floor and skidded her nose on the carpet creating a terrible rugburn on her nose!

Rebecca Stackhouse (September 15..............)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #9 Rebecca Stackhouse. Rebecca is a junior from Barrington, NJ. Rebecca attended Haddon Heights High School where she played in the outfield. Last season for the falcons, Becca batted ..326, with 1 double, and 4 RBI's. She played in 34 games for the falcons in right field with a .900 fielding percentage.
Stackhouse is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics. She plans to work in her field and own some cute puppies in the future.
Becca's family lives in Barrington, NJ. They are about 2 hours from campus. We are glad to have seen them at lots of games and hope to see them at many more. She has 3 younger siblings, 1 sister and 2 brothers and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Rebecca is.... that she loves Ice Cream. She loves the movie - The Little Mermaid. Her favorite song is Lucky by Jason Mraz. Her favorite TV show is Friends and The Office. She loves going to the beach when she can. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Rebecca goes by the name Stacks. She is always being teased, well that is unless Lauren is being teased.......then Becca gets a break. On a serious note - Stacks is one of the nicest people you will ever meet!

2009 season
Lauren Seneca (May 15)............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #8 Lauren Seneca. Lauren is a freshman from Bethlehem, PA. Lauren attended Saucon Valley High School where she played shortstop. Lauren batted .410 in high school, with 8 doubles, 2 homeruns and 11 RBI's. She was her HS team MVP and received All-League honors as well as All-Area honors.
This season Lauren has played in all 43 games at shortstop for the Falcons. She has hit 2 doubles, 6 homeruns and 18 RBI's.
Seneca is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Communications. She plans to work in event planning, as well as coach in the future.
Lauren's family lives in Bethlehem, PA. They are about 1 hour 30 minutes from campus. We are glad to have seen them at lots of games this year and hope to continue to see them at the playoffs this year. She has a younger sister and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Lauren is.... that she loves Italian Food and considers it her favorite food. She loves the movie - The Sandlot. Her favorite song is unknown at this time - maybe Lauren will find a favorite song??? Please email any suggestions for her!!! If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Lauren gets severely picked on by her teammates. They are always teasing her - Lauren takes it all in stride - she is a good sport! On a serious note - Lauren is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and a great team leader.

Megan Rice - (Apr. 30).......

This weeks player in the spotlight is #15 Megan Rice. Megan is a junior from Pipersville, PA. Megan attended Christopher Dock High School where she played pitcher. Last season Megan was out most of the year due to back injuries. The year before that she went 13-6 with a 1.76 ERA. She was also voted a Regional All-American. Currently for the falcons, Megan is 12-1 with a 1.56 ERA.
Rice is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Human Development and Family Science. She plans to work in geriatrics after graduating and also continue with softball by giving pitching lessons.
Megan's family lives in Pipersville, PA. They are about 1 hour 30 minutes from campus. We hope to continue to see them at the playoffs this year. She has two younger brothers and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Megan is.... that she loves Chicken Cheesteak and considers it her favorite food. She loves the movie - The Shawshenk Redemption. Her favorite song is "Under the Tracks " by Coldplay. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Megan severely hurt her back and had to undergo lots of rehabilitation. She did not play for almost an entire year. Megan has recovered well and is back on the mound. She is also one of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

Jessica Rhoads - (Apr. 13) .............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #10 Jessica Rhoads. Jess is a freshman from Dillsburg, PA. Jess attended Northern High School where she played pitcher. She had 1,098 career strikeouts in High School. She receieved many awards her sr. year including High School MVP, Sentinel Mid-Penn 1st Team All-star, Patriot News Big 11 1st Team and the NFCA First Team All-Region Award. Currently in her debut season for the falcons, Jess is 16-1 with a .46 ERA and 205 strikeouts.
Rhoads is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Sport Management. She is still undecided about her future plans.
Jess's family lives in Dillsburg, PA. They are only about five minutes from campus. We hope to continue to see them at many games this year. She has one older sister and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Jess is.... that she loves Pasta and considers it her favorite food. She loves the movie - Pride and Prejudice. Her favorite song is "Love Remains the Same". If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Jess is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Behind that tough pitching is just your down to earth nice person!
Rhoads likes to read, listen to music and workout when not playing softball. Her favorite quote is - "One day at a time...this is enough. Tiffany Stokes - (Apr. 5)............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #11 Tiffany Stokes. Tiffany is a freshman from Palmyra, PA. Tiffany attended Palmyra High School where she played third base. She was a team captain her junior and senior year. She has made the transition to second base here at Messiah. She did suffer an early season injury, and has been pinch running in games. She is going thru rehabilitation for her hand.
Stokes is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Elementary Education/Special Education. She wants to teach 5th grade after graduating. She plans to consider teaching overseas.
Tiffany's parents live in PA. They are only about an hour away from campus. We hope to see them at many games this year. She has two younger brothers and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Tiffany is.... that she loves No food........just kidding.........but she couldn't think of her favorite food so we'll just assume she loves all food! She loves the movies - The Notebook and Save The Last Dance. Her favorite song is "In Christ Alone ". If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Tiffany has been either sick or injured most of the 2008-09 fall and spring seasons. It has to get better from here Tiffany! Tiff is always smiling and laughing - keep it up!
Stokes likes to be outdoors, get to know people and be involved in church activities when not playing softball. Her favorite quote is - "No Pain, No Gain." - unknown.
Jacki Merkel - (Mar. 30) .............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #21 Jaclyn Merkel. Jaclyn is a freshman from Linthicum, MD. Jaclyn attended Mount deSales Academy where she batted .407, with 3 homeruns, 17 RBI's and 10 stolen bases in her senior year. She also played solid on defense at shortstop. Jaclyn was a team captain, team MVP, conference All-start, All county shortstop and all metro infielder. She has made the transition to left field here at Messiah and is already hitting over .500 with several homeruns.
Merkel is a good studnet in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing. She wants to be a nurse in the oncology ward at a large metropolitan hospital after graduating. She also plans to travel.
Jaclyn's parents live in MD. They are only about an hour away from campus. We hope to see them at many games this year. She has two older siblings and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Jaclyn is.... that she loves Chocolate Chip Pancakes!!! She loves the movie - Pride and Prejudice. Her favorite song is "Breath". If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Jaclyn likes to dive and get dirty when playing. Rarely will you see her uniform nice and clean. We like that Jackie - keep it up!
Merkel likes to play field hockey, skimboarding, shoot pool, go shopping and read. Her favorite quote is - "Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has overcome while trying to succeed." - unknown.
Ashley Lehman - (March 15)........

This weeks player in the spotlight is #1 Ashley Lehman. Ashley is a freshman from Lancaster, PA. Ashley attended Lampeter-Strasburg High School where she batted .418, with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 4 homeruns in her senior year. She also played solid on defense at third base. Ashley was a team captain, team defensive player of the year, 1st team Section all star for third base and a district semifinalist. She owns her HS record for best average in a season of .500.
Lehman is a good studnet in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Health and Physical Education. It is still too early in her collegiate career to know what she plans to do after graduation.
Ashley's parents live in PA. They are only about an hour away from campus. We hope to see them at many games again this year. She is an only child and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Ashley is.... that she loves Tacos!!! She loves the movie - Dumb and Dumber. Her favorite song is "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Ashley is very quiet - what you don't know is that she isn't really very quiet all the time once she gets comfortable around her friends! Ashley is also a lefty at bat and plays righty in the field.

Tori Hatt - (March 1st)....

This weeks player in the spotlight is #6 Tori Hatt. Tori is a junior from Mount Joy, PA. Tori played in all 40 games last season for the Falcons. She hit for a .230 batting avg. with 4 doubles and 1 homerun. She also played solid on defense. Tori will try her hand at pitching again this year as well as outfield. She is a team captain for the second year in a row.
Hatt is a good studnet in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences with a concentration in Marriage and Family Counseling. She would like to work as a counselor after graduation.
Tori's parents live in PA. They are only about a half hour away from campus. We hope to see them at many games again this year. She also has 3 younger siblings, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Tori enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Tori is.... that she loves Buffalo Chicken. She loves the movie - Batman, The Dark Knight. Her favorite song changes every time a new one comes out - but she says she loves "No Day but today" from Rent. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Tori has played almost every position on the field while at Messiah. We still haven't had her catch in a game - but Tori - you never know!!!!
Hatt likes to hang out with friends, work at Rockwell's, have a good time, play softball and shop. Her favorite quote is - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding." - from the Bible.
Jessica Hughes - (Feb. 15)....

This weeks player in the spotlight is #18 Jessica Hughes. Jessica is a first year student from Spencer, MA. Jessica played First Base and Outfield in High Shcool. She hit for a .424 batting avg. with 4 doubles and 2 triples. She also played solid on defense with a .950 fielding percentage. Jessica was captain of her team for two years and received Mass. Student Athelte Award.
Hughes is a good student in the classroom as well. She was a National Honor Society member in High School. At Messiah she is majoring in Psychology and she is still unsure about her future plans after Messiah.
Jessica's parents live in MA. We hope to see them at some games this year despite the distance. She also has one younger brother. Jess enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Jess is.... that she loves American Chop Suey. She loves the movie - Hidalgo. She also does not have a favorite song. (Jess - you will have to team up with Jess Brown to figure out some songs you like!) Hughes likes to play sports, horse back riding and doing adventure activities like hiking, kayaking, rock climbing and most recently added to her list is conquering high ropes courses! Lindsay Hall - (Feb. 1).....

This weeks player in the spotlight is #7 Lindsay Hall. Lindsay is a junior from Fairfax, VA. Last season as a sophomore, Lindsay started in all 43 games for the falcons at thirdbase. She had the third highest batting avg. on the team of .338 with 44 hits, 4 doubles and 2 triples. She also played solid on defense with a .965 fielding percentage. Lindsay was also named to the MAC Commonwealth All - Conference team as well as the NFCA All-Region team.
Hall is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Psychology while here at Messiah. She plans to attend graduate school and do some missions work as well after she graduates.

If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Lindsay took her sport to a new level this past summer. She traveled along with many players from Bethel University over seas on a life changing sports missions trip.
Hall likes to Play guitar, listen to music, ski, water sports and go on missions trips. Bekkah Funk - (Jan. 15) .............

This weeks player in the spotlight is #5 Bekkah Funk. Bekkah is a sophomore from Carlisle, PA. Last season as a freshman, Bekkah started in all 43 games for the falcons at shortstop. She batted for a .310 avg. with 40 hits, 3 dougles and 1 triple. She was 21 for 23 on stolen bases and held a .937 fielding percentage. Bekkah was also named MAC Commonwealth Co-rookie of the Year.
Funk i s a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Health and Physical Education while here at Messiah. She plans to teach in elementary school and coach softball after she graduates.

She loves the movie - How to lose a guy in 10 days. Her favorite songs is "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Bekkah is called Funky and that she is super super fast with almost lightning speed. One other interesting fact about Bekkah is that she is now a switch batter/hitter but has learned that only since coming into Messiah.

Corinn "Roo" Eby - (Jan. 1)......

This weeks player in the spotlight is #12 Corinn Eby. Corinn is a sophomore from Carlisle, PA. Last season as a freshman, Corinn pitched in 10 games for the falcons with 9 starts, 1 shutout and 1 save. She pitched in 59 innings with 31 strikeouts.
Corinn is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Business Administration while here at Messiah. She plans to work in the business world when she graduates.
Eby's parents live in Carlisle - only about 20 minutes away from the college. We hope to see them at many games again this year. She also has one sibling, an older brother. Corinn enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Corinn is.... that her favorite food is Olives. She is actually very picky about her food choices but loves olives. She loves the movies Hairspray and Freedom Writers. Her favorite songs are "Take a Bow" and "One Step at a Time". If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Corinn doesn't go by Corinn at all - she is actually called "Roo" by all those that know her well. When at games you'll only hear us calling her Roo. You'll have to ask her where her nickname came from. One other interesting fact about Roo is that she is a die hard fan of Jon and Kate plus eight.
Roo likes to car dance, sing, swim and watch movies and of course watch Jon and Kate plus eight. We'll have to wait and see many years from now if she follows in their footsteps or not? Her favorite quote is by an airport stranger Colleen - "When you wake up in the morning you can choose to be a piece of strawberry shortcake or burnt toast"
Abi Buchler - (Dec. 1)......

This weeks player in the spotlight is #14 Abi Buchler. Abi is a freshman infielder from Fenwick Island, DE. In Abi's senior year of HS she hit for .320 with a slugging percentage of .440 and a .414 on base percentage. She had 6 doubles, 5 RBI's, and 8 walks. On the field she played great at second base as well with a .955 fielding percentage. Abi was a captain for 2 years and won all-conference awards as well as going with her team to the final four in the state for two years in a row.
Abi is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Math Secondary Education while here at Messiah. Buchler may teach math one day, but is still unsure of her future plans at this time.
Abi's parents live in Delaware - a few hours away from the college. We hope to see them at many games this year. She also has four siblings, one older and three younger. Abi enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Abi is.... that her favorite food is tacos. She is in good company as many college students love tacos. Just don't ask us to stop at Taco Bell a lot after games!!!! She loves the movie Mulan. Her favorite song is "Your Guardian Angel" by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. If you are a die hard fan - you would know from the fall that Abi is intense on the field. She has a very positive way of encouraging her teammates and maintaining an intense focus!!! This is a great attribute in a player.
Abi likes to collect pens, solve rubik's cubes (she is great at it!!!), read and surf. Yes, I said surf!!!! Abi is a surfer and the team is hoping she will invite them down to the beach in the summer and give out some surfing lessons!!!! Her favorite quote is by Nicholas Sparks - Dear John - "Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there is nothing to make it last."
Jess Brown . . .(Nov. 15)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #13 Jess Brown. Jess is a freshman infielder/outfielder from Lititz, PA. In Jess's senior year of HS she hit for .400 with the top batting average on her team. She had 7 doubles, scoring 13 runs with 20 RBI's, the highest on the team. On the field she played great at shortstop as well. Jess erned the US Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award.
Jess is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Nursing while here at Messiah. Nursing is one of the toughest majors at Messiah. Before coming to Messiah, Jess was on Distinguished Honor Roll, National Honor Society, and received the E. Jerry Brooks District III Academic Excellence Award. Brown intends on pursuing a career in Nursing when she graduates.
Jess's parents live in Lititz, PA- only about an hour from the college. We hope to see them at many games this year. She also has a younger sister and enjoys hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Jess is.... that her favorite food is bacon - a good 'ol down home greasy favorite. She loves the movie Remember The Titans (good pick says coach!!!!). Her favorite song is - wait a minute - she doesn't have a favorite song - uncommon for most students her age - team - you will have to get on that and help Jess find a song!!!! If you are a die hard fan - you would know from the fall that Jess has a wonderful way of ALWAYS being positive!!!! She is very rarely caught not smiling. Don't change a thing about that Jess!

Amy Bowie. . .(Oct.30)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #16 Amy Bowie. Amy is a senior catcher from Monrovia, MD. Last season Amy hit for .336 in the top four batting averages on the team. She played in all 43 games last season. She had 7 doubles, 1 triple and 5 homeruns with 29 RBI's, the second highest on the team. On the field she played great at catcher ending the season with a .988 fielding percentage. Amy is a two time All-Conference player and a two time Regional All-American! She also earned the ESPN Academic All District II Second team selection this past year.
Amy is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Engineering while here at Messiah. Engineering is one of the toughest majors at Messiah and Amy has managed to keep a 4.0 GPA. Bowie intends on pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering and already has a job lined up for a Government contractor. She also intends to pursue some graduate work as well.
Amy's parents live in Maryland - only about an hour from the college. You can almost always see Amy's family at most of the games. Amy loves hanging out with her family when she is at home.
What you don't know about Amy is that her favorite food is chocolate - a common female favorite. She loves the movie P.S. I Love You. Her favorite song is "Animal I have become " by Three Days Grace. If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Amy has had her non catching arm and hand hit more times than she cares to remember. In all of her seasons she has been seen shaking off an injury from a foul tip - somehow the ball seems to find her arm. How about we change that this year Amy? I'm not sure if we need to speak to the balls before the games or something like that? What do you think?

AbbyBergakker. . .(Oct. 15)

This weeks player in the spotlight is #17 Abby Bergakker. Abby is a junior second baseman and catcher from Grand Rapids, MI. Last season Abby hit for .328 in the top five batting averages on the team. She played in all 43 games last season. She had 5 doubles, 2 triples and 6 homeruns with 19 RBI's. She also was 10 for 12 on stolen bases. On the field she played great at 2B ending the season with a .934 fielding percentage. What a season!
Abby is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Sport Management while here at Messiah and intends on pursuing a career in professional baseball or a Health and Fitness facility.
Abby's parents live in Michigan and she has an older brother and sister. Even though her family lives far away - they make a large portion of our games. You can almost always see someone from Abby's family at a lot of games. Abby loves hanging out with her family when they are in town.
What you don't know about Abby is that her favorite food is Pizza - a common favorite among lots of college students. She loves the movie Knotting Hill. Her favorite song is "Hey Ya" - although I can't say that coaches have heard her sing it........how about it Abby - at the next practice??? If you are a die hard fan - you would know that Abby gets hurt more often than most. In both seasons so far for the falcons Abby has made trips to the hospital. How about we don't go the hospital anymore this year Abby?

Nicole Adams. . .(Sept. 30)
This weeks player in the spotlight is #20 Nicole Adams. Nicole is a junior first baseman from Carlisle, PA. Last season Nicole hit for .354 just behind Lana Trotter in batting avg. She played in all 43 games last season. She had 9 doubles, 2 triples and 6 homeruns with a team high 35 RBI's. On the field she played incredible at 1B touching the ball 289 times in the season with a .983 fielding percentage. What a season!
Nicole is a good student in the classroom as well. She is majoring in Psychology while here at Messiah and intends on continuing on in School to get her Master's degree after Messiah. She also wants to work for a volunteer Organization like Hospice or S.S.D. while getting her Master's degree.
Nicole's family lives close to the college. Her parents Barry and Lisa live in Carlisle as well as her sister Sarah. Nicole loves hanging out with her family.
What you don't know about Nicole is that her favorite food is Chicken and Candy....mmmm....interesting combination. She loves Monster's Inc. and Billy Madison. Her favorite song (if you are a die hard fan - you should know this) is Oh Happy Day from the movie Sister Act - she sings it nice and loud at every game when it comes over the sound system. The team can NOT have a warm up CD without that song or Nicole would have some serious issues with that!
