Notes From Coach

Summer is OVER!  It's exciting and sad all at the same time.   All of your daughters are here on campus and the campus at Messiah is buzzing with excitement.   Things are ready to roll around here!  

Many of you are going thru withdrawal (especially those of first year students).   Hang in there.   You'll be back here soon visiting and watching your daughters play this fall.  

We are ready to roll with softball - we get started with practice on Mon. 9/8 and we can't wait!

During the season - I am also asking that parents volunteer to bring snacks/gatorade to our games for in between the double headers. We prefer healthy snacks like fruit, granola - no candy, etc. and gatorades. Please email me at aweaver@messiah.edu if you can take a game and I'll put your name next to that game. Thanks.

PLANNING AHEAD FOR FALL SEASON AND TOURNEY DATE

Sat. 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27 and Sat. 10/11 - pitching clinics

(All pitchers/catchers must help out)

Mon. 9/8 - Fall practice begins

Fri. 9/19-20 -  Recruit visit weekends and 9/20 - skills clinic (entire team must help out)

9/26-27 - Family Weekend on campus

Sat. 10/4 - Fall Tournament at McDaniel College (game times, etc. still TBD)  -  Directions at www.mcdaniel.edu

10/6 - 10/12 - week off practice -

10/9-10/12 - College Fall Break

10/13 - practice resumes

10/17-10/18 - Recruit weekend and skills clinic (entire team must help)

10/18 -  Homecoming at Messiah -  team will play final game vs. Alumni

END OF FALL SEASON - winter workouts will be handed out

****We may do a team retreat on one weekend - keep all weekends open from 9/6 - 10/18 -  for helping out with clinics, etc. and a possible team retreat weekend.******

Spring Schedule details for away games:

The spring season practice begins in January.  Our teams first games begin in February and run through May.

Full Spring Schedule is still TBD -  please see below for our spring  tournament information and spring break trip information that we have at this time.   We will get a full spring schedule out as soon as we have it finalized.

PLANNING AHEAD FOR SPRING TOURMAMENT AND SPRING BREAK TRIP:

The team will travel to Florida twice next spring.  The first weekend we will be practicing and only playing two games - 

2/27 - Team will fly to Florida

2/28 - Practice

3/1 - Practice

3/2 - Play a double header

We will be playing at National Training Center -  www.usantc.com

The team will be staying at the Orange Lake Resort over the weekend - other suggested hotels are listed on the National training center website.

Spring Break Trip -  3/13 - 3/21

3/13 - Team is NOT playing this date anymore - but we will be flying out to florida on this date.  

3/14 - Practice

3/15 - Practice

3/16 - 20 - Play 8 games with one day off for family day - schedule not determined yet

3/21 - Fly home

We will also be playing at the National training center again during this week of spring break - www.usantc.com

The team will be staying in houses this week - by Award Vacation Homes -  www.awardpoolhomes.com
