A former sprinter for Messiah, Coach Fogelsanger held the school record in the 400 meter dash for 20 years until one of his own athletes finally beat his mark. In recent years, Fogelsanger has led the program through some of its best years, with the women winning their 4th straight indoor track conference title this past February, and enter this spring as 4 time defending outdoor conference champions. Fogelsanger has also coached a number of individuals to the NCAA National Championships, and to date has coached 5 Individual National Champions, and many All-Americans.

Coach Fogelsanger founds his teams on open communication and a balanced lifestyle, as he works to build the confidence of his runners. Likewise, he consistently integrates the Christian faith in his teams, working to perfect the whole person. Coach Fogelsanger says, with each new season he strives to provide opportunities for each athlete "to become more self-motivated, team-enriched, and Christ-centered." He loves the Messiah college community and strives to enhance each indiviudals experience.
