Meet the 2008 Captains

Jackie Dando will be co-captaining the women's lacrosse team this year.

Jackie Dando is a junior Broadcast Journalism major with a minor in Business Administration. A midfielder from West Chester, Pennsylvania, Dando has been a two-year starter for the Messiah Women’s Lacrosse Team. In her two seasons with the team Dando has scored 47 goals, has 15 assists, 56 groundballs, and 30 caused turnovers.

“This year our focus is on teamwork and unity. We each have our own strengths and weaknesses,” says Dando, “but at the end of the day we are one body. I am confident we are going to work hard with the MAC championships in mind. Our ultimate goal is competing in the NCAA playoffs again.”

Dando spent this past fall semester at Temple University studying Broadcasting through the Messiah College Philadelphia Campus.

Kirstyn Wheeler is also co-captaining this year's team.

Kirstyn Wheeler is a senior Human Development and Family Science major who has played a crucial role in Messiah’s Women’s Lacrosse defense. In the three years as one of Messiah’s toughest low defenders, Wheeler has come to stand among Messiah’s All Time leaders with 72 caused turnovers and 119 ground balls.

One of Wheeler’s greatest strengths is found in her ability to protect the ball; she never has more than 7 turnovers in a single season.

“I am excited about the team dynamics we saw on the field during our fall ball season,” says Wheeler. “We have a strong returning line-up along with talented underclassmen that will be immediate contributors to this team. I consider it an honor to be apart of leading this 2008 Falcon team!”
