Why women's soccer at Messiah?

Messiah has established itself as one of the premier NCAA Division III programs in the country.  The Falcons have advanced to six consecutive Final Fours (’04, ’05, ’06, ’07, '08, '09) since their first appearance in 2002.  Messiah posted back to back National Crowns in 2008 and 2009 to bring their total to three, the first Title came in 2005.  Messiah has put together a record of 205-12-11 under Coach Frey and has garnered nine Commonwealth Conference crowns in the past 10 seasons.  The Falcons have finished ranked in the top four nationally in seven of the last eight years.

The unique and distinctive aspect of Messiah’s team though is its commitment to the Christian faith.  We seek to attract high-level players who have a passion for the game as well as a commitment to living by and embracing Christian principles in all that they do on and off the field.  The team’s motto "One in heart and mind" (Acts 4:32) – is a reminder of how we have been called to live as Christians.  “Each person willing to give of themselves and their talents for the betterment of the entire group and team.”

The Recruiting Process

Our goal in the recruiting process is to find top-level players who fit Messiah as a Christian College and meet its academic standards. It is an important process for both you as a student/athlete and for us as we try to help you make the best possible decision.  Here are some suggestions to help you in the process:

Make a visit to campus. You can schedule a visit through the admissions office at (717)691-6000, and make an appointment through them to talk with the admissions counselors and with the coach during your visit.

Make a trip to see us play. It is very helpful to get an idea of what the level and speed of play is like, as well as see the team’s style and the atmosphere surrounding the game.

Make a highlight tape. We can't get out to view everyone play, despite how much we might like to.  A tape at least gives us a first look in evaluating your ability to play at Messiah.

Consider attending a Summer Camp. Messiah conducts two camps in the summer for high school players.  A college prep week, June 18-20, for juniors and seniors and a resident camp, August 1-5, for players in grades 7-12.  It's a great way for us to see you play and train and for you to experience Messiah and interact with our staff and players.
