Junior Katie Marstaller was a key component in both of Messiah's team points Saturday at Moravian.

Bethlehem, PA — The road woes continued for Messiah Saturday, as the team dropped its second straight 7-2 decision at host Moravian College.

Just three days off a loss at Goucher College, Messiah (1-2) found the goings difficult again, dropping two of the three doubles flights to fall behind early in the day.

Juniors Steph Knepper and Katie Marstaller were able to take out Moravian’s Brianna Kavanagh and Stephanie Cox in the third doubles position by an 8-4 count, giving the Falcons a fighting chance heading into singles play.

Straight-set losses at all but one singles flight quickly thwarted any notions of a Messiah comeback, however, as Moravian (3-1) got back to winning after suffering its only loss of the year Wednesday.

Marstaller was again the bright spot for Messiah in singles competition, taking out the Greyhounds’ Kerry McKinley by a 6-3, 6-1 score in the third flight.

Messiah was without senior ace Christie McGinley, who continues to fight flu-like symptoms. McGinley also missed the Falcons’ match-up with Goucher on Wednesday.

Messiah will not have long to sit on Saturday’s loss, however, as York College will visit Criste Courts on Monday afternoon. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
