C.N. Hostetter, Jr. Fellowship Program
Francisco Fernandez Cisco Fernandez is a junior Philosophy major from Martinsville Virginia. Presently he works at the Student Union and is involved in the Concert Choir. A passion of his is rock climbing, and you can often finding him doing so at Issachar's Loft. The Hostetter program attracted Cisco because of the stress the program puts on pursuing seminary after college. Cisco himself plans to pursue a higher education when he graduates from Messiah, he says, “I’d like to go to seminary, or some kind of graduate school.” While he does not know where his vocational path will take him, he is presently considering pastoral ministry. Cisco attributes his passion for ministry to the people in his church family that have impacted him. “Without the ministerial staff at my church,” he recognizes, “I would not be the person I am today.” Over the years he has realized the gifts he has to communicate and console. He also does not deny the blessings God has poured into his life, and his career choice is a result of such. “Because of all that God has done in my life, I feel that I should be able to give at least a little bit back. ”Being in the Hostetter program has given Cisco the opportunity to “be with like minded people.” While he has just started in the program, he already feels his faith being stretched. Considering the Kenbrook retreat, Cisco says, “Everyone was challenged to think a little deeper about their faith.” He looks forward to further experiences, especially the internship, within the Hostetter program during these next couple of years. |
