C.N. Hostetter, Jr. Fellowship Program
Clinton Simmons Clinton Simmons is a junior Christian Ministries major, with a Global Ministries concentration. Since high school, Clinton knew that he would be serving God through ministry. After spending three weeks in Haiti, he realized the great needs of poorer parts of the world. The experience “opened my eyes to the world,” Clinton says thinking back. “It became real to me” is all he could really say, as if one could not understand poverty until being among it first hand. “If I don’t go, who will go?” Clinton questions adamantly, remembering the time he decided he was going to dedicate his life to ministry. “Why should I feel like I should stay back and expect others to make a difference in overseas missions?” He spent last semester studying in Egypt, which proved to be a life changing experience. Clinton can hardly believe that he had the opportunity to ride horse back through the desert, passing ancient pyramids on the way. That, or the two week tour through early Christian landmarks within Turkey, Jordan and Syria. “I grew to really love the Muslim people. I would love to go back to Egypt and work in ministry full time,” Clinton says, as he explains the possibility of teaching English as a second language in Cairo. Whatever path he follows, and whatever corner of the world he may end up, his desire will always remain: “I want to live abroad with the purpose of promoting God’s Kingdom.” |
