C.N. Hostetter, Jr. Fellowship Program
Lauren Steele Lauren Steele grew up in Harrisburg with a sister, set of parents, a dog, and two cats. She had what most would deem a normal childhood, excluding the fact that she was the quarterback for her high school football team. That and the church she grew up in. It seemed that one bad experience followed another, an occurrence that happens all too often within church families. Yet Lauren turned these hardships into a passion for youth ministry. “Instead of running away,” Lauren says concerning what the average youth might do, “I want to help.” She is now a Christian Ministries major with a youth concentration. Her history of bad experiences with youth groups has come to an end with her internship with Lancaster County Bible Church. “I absolutely loved my internship,” she says. She recalls innumerable memories with the fun-loving group of youth leaders she worked with. Being in such an intensive ministerial program “day in and day out” made her realize that ministry is right where she belongs. It has been moths since the internship ended, and she still goes back to LCBC to help. “If it weren’t for my internship,” Lauren says. “I don’t think I’d go into ministry.” After spending a semester studying abroad in England, Lauren believes that there is a good chance she will end up overseas. She does not know where or when that may be, and until then Lauren will just have to “see where life leads me.” |
