Caps and Gowns
Graduating Seniors
This past fall, when seniors applied to graduate, they submitted their height measurements to the Registrar's Office for their gown. The College uses this information to place the cap and gown order for all graduating seniors (there is no charge to undergraduate students). Caps and gowns are souvenir regalia that may be kept by the graduates.
Graduating seniors may pick up their caps and gowns (in addition to their Baccalaureate tickets and Commencement "rain plan" tickets) at the Messiah College Ticket Office, located in the ground-floor lobby of Eisenhower Campus Center, on the following dates and times:
Monday, May 7 - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, May 8 - 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 9 - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 10 - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, May 11 - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 12 (Commencement morning) - 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Graduating seniors must pick up the Baccalaureate tickets and Commencement "rain plan" tickets in person. You will be asked to show your student I.D. to verify that you are a graduating senior, and you will be asked to sign for the tickets to confirm that you have received them.
Note: master's program graduates order their caps, gowns and regalia online, and will have their Commencement "rain plan" tickets mailed to them prior to Commencement weekend.
Master’s Program Graduates
Master’s program graduates wear caps, gowns, and hoods that visually distinguish them from undergraduate regalia and represent the specific academic discipline of their degree. Master’s graduates purchase their regalia through a vendor coordinated by the College. Messiah College has partnered with University Cap and Gown for master’s level regalia this year. The complete outfit includes the gown, cap, tassel, and master’s hood. A portion of the hood will be colored according to your program so be sure to mark the specific degree you are earning on the order form.
To order your regalia go to http://www.mygraduationstore.com. Click on “order my cap and gown.” Type in #13205 as the School ID, create your own personal account, and complete the order form. You will have the option to either purchase ($70.50) or rent ($25.50) your regalia. Students are responsible for the shipping and handling costs. Payment can be made online using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
In-stock orders will be shipped within 48 hours of the order being placed. The deadline to order is one week before the graduation ceremony (though waiting this long may result in expedited shipping fees). Packages can be delivered by UPS Ground or UPS Air, though there are no Saturday deliveries.
Please allow plenty of time for delivery, as you will be unable to participate in the commencement ceremony without your regalia. Also, when your regalia arrives please check that you have received the appropriate hood color: light blue for the Master of Arts in Counseling or pink for the Master of Music in Conducting. At the Commencement ceremony, graduates will receive their diploma cover with a congratulatory note inside. Following the final posting of grades, the Registrar's Office will review the academic record of each student and make final verification of all coursework and degrees. At that time (approximately four weeks following the Commencement ceremony), diplomas will be mailed to the address requested by the student via first class mail. Accordingly, it is important that each student have a valid mailing address on file with the Registrar's Office prior to Commencement.
