Academic Internships

In addition to Messiah's course offerings in Environmental Science, opportunities exist for learning experiences beyond the classroom.  Students planning to enter the environmental job market directly after college are strongly encouraged to obtain the hands-on work experience provided by an internship.

Recent internships have included work for the Pennsylvania DCNR, Sierra Club, Maryland Department of Natural Resources,  Rehabitat (a raptor rehabilitation center), the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Pennsylvania Audubon Society, the State Department (environmental public policy), the World Bank, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, PA Fish & Boat Commission, Au Sable Institute (environmental education), and local firms specializing in environmental consulting work.

Internships are available during the school year when schedules permit and during the summer.  Students should contact Messiah College's Field Studies Office  for additional details. Internships are on a competitive basis with a 2.5 minimum GPA required for students arranging their internship through Messiah's Field Studies Office.
