Professor of Historical Theology

My title here at Messiah College is Professor of Historical Theology.  My main teaching responsibility is the “Introduction to Christian Beliefs” course.   My specialty is Wesleyan/Holiness theology but I’m also active in a group exploring the Openness of God theology.  While our beliefs are extremely important, I’m also interested in how Christians behave in light of our convictions.  That’s where the “historical” comes in.  My research and writing explore Christian behavior, particularly from the nineteenth-century up to the present.  I’m active in several academic groups and have served as president of the Wesleyan Theological Society. 

             

I’m ordained in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) and have posted resources on women in ministry at www.messiah.edu/womeninministry. For fifteen years, I was Executive Director of Wesleyan/Holiness Women Clergy, Intl.

I live less than one mile from campus which makes it convenient when I’ve forgotten something and have to run home to get it!
