Religion Major
Messiah's Religion major gives students a broad background to the study of religion generally and the Christian faith in particular. An understanding of the Christian faith and other world religions is approached through studying literature (including sacred texts), history, religious thought, and religious practices. This major is particularly appropriate for students considering more advanced training in seminary or graduate school, though the critical thinking and writing skills acquired in this major provide excellent preparation for a variety of career paths. For students in other majors who wish to deepen their understanding of religion, the Department of Biblical and Religious Studies offers four minors: African-American Religion and Culture; Brethren in Christ Studies; Global Christian Studies; and Religion.
