Professor Thomas Chilcote came to Messiah College in 1987 from a ten year career with British Petroleum, one of the world's largest oil and gas groups, where he significant accounting positions of increasing responsibility. This included the accounting and financial analysis for the trans-Alaska pipeline system's $3 billion in revenue and assets.
After he began at Messiah, he co-established a fully-integrated writing program for upper-level accounting courses, and presented and published a paper regarding this program. He has taught in an off campus CPA review course. He also teaches Personal Finance and has completed manuscript reviews of Personal Finance by Kapoor, Dlabay, and Hughes.
He provides consulting and accounting services to area businesses, and gives investment seminars on retirement planning. He is married and the father of four children, one in college, and two at home. Additionally, he has three married stepchildren and four step grandchildren. He volunteers at a local Nursing Home with his family and preaches at a local church when given the opportunity.
His undergraduate degree is from Ithaca College and his M.B.A. is from Cleveland State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor.
On Thursday, October 7th, 2004, Thomas Chilcote delivered the chapel message to the School of Mathematics, Engineering and Business at Messiah College. In "Christ - Who is My Life," Professor Chilcote discusses making Christ pre-eminent and his own challenges in leading a Christ-centered life based on Colossians 3:1-4.
