    Business Administration Major

Business Administration studentAs a business administration major, you will have the opportunity to design a customized program of study across the business disciplines which accents your chosen career theme. There are three different curricular tracks available to prepare you for three different specialties:

Generalist Track — This track requires that upper-level study be pursued in several different business disciplines to develop the breadth of preparation required for the management of small businesses, general management, or administrative staff roles within large organizations. Participation in the International Business Institute, a ten-week study/travel program in Europe, as well as in other study abroad programs mesh very well with the requirements of this track.

Management Concentration — Upper-level studies in this track equip you for a career in operations management.

Finance Concentration — Upper-level studies in this track prepare you for a career in corporate finance, the financial markets, or in financial institutions. This program is flexible enough to permit emphasis on different aspects of finance such as financial analysis, personal financial planning, taxation, investments, financial controls, and financial economy.

Practical Experience

Like many business students, you may opt to participate in internships which turn work experiences into learning opportunities and make connections between classroom theory and the "real world." Some internships, such as work at the Economic Development Center, also offer a special opportunity for service to the community. Often internships lead directly to full-time career opportunities.

Philly Experience

As a student majoring in business administration, you may choose to take advantage of Temple University's extensive program in business to enrich and expand your study options. You may spend one or two enrichment semesters at the Philadelphia Campus of Messiah College and discover the quaint restaurants, cultural events, and urban experiences of this important city.

After Graduation

As a business administration graduate, you will be prepared to work in a wide variety of organizations, in myriad occupational roles, and in all kinds of interesting locations around the world. Graduates are currently serving:
  • In small businesses and corporate giants, in churches and parachurch organizations, and even in government.
  • As management trainees, loan officers, congressional staffers, salespersons, investment advisors, missionaries, financial analysts, entrepreneurs, and managers of family business.
  • In central Pennsylvania, Wall Street, Europe, Central America, Russia, China, and many other interesting places in the U.S. and the world.
