    Advice for First-Year Students:

Get involved, communicate, collaborate, and work hard. Find what you are passionate about.

Vocational Story :

I trace my passion for teaching and learning mathematics back to a very early teacher in my life.  My second grade teacher, Mrs. Scott, was an awesome teacher!  She made learning math fun.  Mrs. Scott was ahead of her time, in that she facilitated math lessons that actively engaged students and provoked thinking long before the benefit of that was established through research.  I was fortunate to have exceptional math teachers in high school and college who inspired me to develop my passion for teaching math.  I hope to share that passion with my students so that together, we can spark that love for learning mathematics in young students.

Prior to coming to Messiah College, I taught for Gettysburg Area School District for 10 years, most of that time as Extension Teacher, focusing on gifted education, data management, and developing our response to intervention Child Study process.  I also taught education classes and pre-Algebra at Harrisburg Area Community College (Gettysburg campus) for five years.

Hobbies:

Outside of my fascination of how math is infused in every aspect of life, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, and wood carving.
