International Student Teaching
Messiah College teacher certification students have the option to complete part of their student teaching experience in an international context. Our partnership with CCTECC, a part of Interaction International, enables us to provide this opportunity for our students. CCTECC provides the placement services and orientation for students in this student teaching experience. Dr. Jennifer Fisler is the CCTECC Campus Coordinator at Messiah College.
This opportunity is available for all teacher certification students who will have completed all of the pre-requisite requirements for the Teacher Education Program leading up to the professional semester. Students will complete seven weeks in a local PA school before moving into a six-seven week international teaching placement. Students in the PreK-4 with Special Education major will complete their special education student teaching experience in the first part of the semester and do the general education component in the international context.
Completed applications, which include the required reference letters and application fee, should be returned to the Teacher Education Program Office (Boyer 414) between Sept. 1- Oct. 15 of the junior year. The application window is for both fall and spring student teaching placements in the following (senior) year. A student who applies early will have a better chance of securing the first choice of placement.
Accepted students attend a mandatory weekend orientation session in Indiana early in the semester prior to student teaching. Dates for orientation sessions are announced to accepted students by CCTECC.
Students who are approved for international student teaching will register for TEP 439 Student Teaching: Domestic and International.

Students who live on the Grantham campus for the first part of the semester will receive a $400 housing rebate.
