Engineers' Weekend

Prospective Students: Come learn more about us!

Note: Engineers' Weekend will not be held during the 2014-15 School Year.

Every year, the Messiah College Engineering Department invites high school juniors and seniors to learn more about us by coming to Engineers' Weekend. Engineers' Weekends begin Friday evening and conclude on Saturday afternoon.

Purpose: A gathering of prospective engineering students to:

  1. Meet other interested students and get to know Messiah's Engineering faculty,
  2. Learn more about engineering practices and studies,
  3. Hear how faith can inform the engineering of Christians, and
  4. Have some fun in the engineering laboratories!

  1. Stay overnight in Messiah College housing, hosted by engineering students.
  2. Join a team of your peers and compete in our design challenge.
  3. See a sampler of  Engineering student run projects, clubs and organizations.
  4. Learn how students are applying appropriate engineering  to design systems that address real world needs and how they implement them through local and international projects under the Collaboratory for Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research: such as solar energy, handicap-designed water pumps and transportation, and portable water purification and irrigation systems.

Attendees: A maximum of 25 persons who have an interest in engineering. In case of over enrollment, we will give preference to:

  1. Persons who are accepted for admission at Messiah College;
  2. Those who register early; and
  3. those who are also attending Accepted Students Preview Day.

Family: Parents and other family members are invited to attend a reception and visit our laboratories at 2:00 PM and the Design Play-Offs at 3:00 PM on Saturday in Frey Hall.

Nominal Fee: The $20 registration fee partially offsets our expenses for meals and supplies. You are responsible for transportation to and from the college.

Accommodations: Attendees will stay with Messiah Engineering students in a dormitory room or apartment. Please bring your overnight belongings and a sleeping bag.

Below are some pictures from a previous Engineers' Weekend.  The activities pictured involved some warm-up games lead by Issachar's Loft, a design contest (which involved using Legos to kill a dragon and rescue a princess), and presentations by different student groups.
