Helen Walker
Dr. Helen Walker teaches all manner of writing classes (the capstone course for the writing emphasis, Writing Seminar; Playwriting and Intro to Creative Writing; and our College Writing Workshop and Writing Lab). She is very interested in writing as a form of personal healing and holistic health, loves having writing retreats at her built-by-hand home and camp in the woods outside of East Berlin. She is also into doing what she can to break the cycle of generational poverty. She works (and plays) with young women and their kids from inner city Harrisburg and is currently getting a project off the ground for ex-offenders and their families. Also, ask her about her research in Kenya; or come help her with it. Her picture, by the way, was taken in Nairobi as she was visiting the kids at The Ark, a home for ten amazing, special-needs orphans. Besides these interests, Helen especially likes to teach literature and the environment.
