Position Description: In addition to Activity Assistant job responsibilities, the Nursing Care Activities Manager is responsible for coordinating the Nursing care activities program as well as managing all activities personnel.
Salary Range : $25,000 - $35,000
Previously Held Positions: Serenity was an Activities Assistant for the Special Care "Alzheimer's Unit" for a year and then moved up to the management position.
Courses Found Most Helpful: Strategies helped her develop her creativity. Since her job consists of designing programs for residents of different needs, and teaching others to do so, she uses that skill daily. All her gerontology courses helped her understand the needs of the aging population. Knowing these needs helps her to provide quality care. Interpersonal relations helped her attain skills related to work with others. Since her job entails managing people, she need to have strong interpersonal skills.
How HDFS Helped to Prepare Her: “HDFS students need a compassion for people and an interest in service. HDFS classes help foster both of those qualities in students. The degree also helped teach me a positive work ethic, made me knowledgeable of material that was not only relative to my job now, but to life as well. I think the program helped me in developing my character and interpersonal skills as well as problem solving.”
