Courses Found Most Helpful: Family Dynamics & Strategies

How HDFS Program Helped to Prepare her: I was extremely prepared for my graduate work because I was familiar with writing in APA (in large part thanks to Strategies!). The Family Studies program also encouraged me to think critically about my faith and worldview as it related to the family structure and individuals within that structure. That has helped me a great deal in my work with college students; understanding roles and rules, seeing patterns of behavior, recognizing that each family is dynamic and that it is hard to follow a prescribed set of rules for each family unit has allowed me to have insight into some of the "issues" that students bring to the table when they are trying to make career and life choices.
