    TESOL Minor

English is the most widely studied second language in the world.

Throughout the U.S. and around the globe there is a growing demand for native speakers of English with training in TESOL—Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Messiah's TESOL minor combines courses in English, teaching methods, applied linguistics, anthropology, and sociology to prepare students for a broad range of service and professional opportunities available to them.

At Messiah, in-class training is combined with practical experience. Thus, students in the TESOL minor have helped immigrants and international students from Bosnia, Vietnam, Cuba, Uganda, China, Mexico, Ecuador, and a host of other countries. They have observed and participated in English instruction at all levels—from pre-kindergarten to adult education, even traveling to China to gain practical experiences while serving.

For more details on the curriculum requirements and the types of courses you would be taking as a
