Those planning to audition for
admittance to the Department of Music at Messiah College should first read
the requirements for those auditions on the department’s Website.
Those auditioning with
guitar as the performance area should prepare two contrasting pieces using
finger style technique (no pick). The pieces should contain both a
melody and an accompaniment played at the same time by the person
auditioning.
An alternate choice for the
auditioning guitarist would be to perform one piece as described above and
also perform a second guitar piece using a pick which contains both a melody
and an accompaniment played at the same time by the person auditioning. An
example of such a piece would be a chord-melody style jazz standard.
