Dwight W. Thomas is the Director of Christian Music Studies and Ethnomusicology at Messiah College. He received his B.Mus. Ed. from Messiah College in 1970. After a three-year stay in Japan and several years of music teaching in the public schools, he completed a Masters Degree in Music Composition from Indiana University at South Bend and a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Michigan. His areas of interest include the music of Christians around the world and composing/arranging music for use in Christian worship. Dr. Thomas has played the guitar since his early teens and has used it extensively in his church music ministry roles.

Randy Zwally

Randall Zwally, Director of Guitar Studies at Messiah College, holds Master's Degrees in Guitar Performance and Library Science (with an emphasis in music librarianship). He has also completed postgraduate music studies at Texas Christian University, Johns Hopkins U., Manhattan School of Music, and Ithaca College. Professor Zwally was selected (in a nation-wide audition) to perform in the master class with the world acclaimed classical guitarist, David Russell, at the National Guitar Workshop, at the Canterbury School in Connecticut. His guitar-related articles are published regularly in: Notes, The National Journal of the Music Library Association. He has been invited by the PA Music Educators Assoc. to present an address at their 2009 annual conference concerning the use of guitars in public school music programs. Professor Zwally co-leads Messiah College's Cross-Cultural Course to Spain, which explores the role of the guitar in the history and culture of that country.
