Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
Mission and Philosophy
Mission Statement The mission of Messiah College is to educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership and reconciliation in church and society. In support of this mission, the mission of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is to provide a high quality undergraduate nutrition and dietetics education which prepares students for lives of Christian service and leadership.
Philosophy Statement Our programs are based on the conviction that providing excellent and ethical nutrition care is a service to our Savior and Lord and to our fellow human beings. Excellent nutrition care includes the application of knowledge in nutrition, foods, and related areas, as well as the development and use of critical thinking, communication, leadership, teamwork, and management skills. We strive to graduate students who base their nutrition and dietetics practice on both scientific evidence and Biblical principles such as stewardship and justice. As we work toward this goal, we seek to augment classroom learning with
hands-on experience and community service.
