3+ OT Agreement
The 3+ program in Occupational Therapy (3+ OT) is the result of a new and exciting collaboration between Messiah College and the Jefferson School of Health Professions of Thomas Jefferson University (TJUSHP). Students can earn both a Bachelor’s Degree in either Biopsychology (B.S.) or Health and Exercise Science (B.A.) and the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) degree in a total of five years. Students will spend the first three years at Messiah, and then proceed to Jefferson School of Health Professions for the final two and a half years of graduate Occupational Therapy coursework. The Bachelor’s degree in either Biopsychology (B.S.) or Health and Exercise Science (B.A.) from Messiah will be awarded after successful completion of the first year at Jefferson School of Health Professions. The MSOT from Thomas Jefferson University will be awarded after successful completion of the final year at Jefferson School of Health Professions.
There are two possible paths to enter this program.
Qualifying High School Seniors - are current Messiah College applicants with a high school GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale; a combined SAT score of at least 1650 or, an ACT score of at least 28; who have completed at least 35 hours of OT shadowing by February of their senior year of high school. Prospective students who fall into this category are eligible to interview with TJUSHP as high school seniors to potentially receive a conditional acceptance into the MSOT program before graduating from high school.
Non-Qualifying High School Seniors – are current Messiah College applicants who do not meet the above criteria as entering students. These students are eligible to participate in this program as first year students and interview with TJUSHP at the end of their first year assuming that they satisfy the requirements outlined in this document.
