Art History
Art History Major Brochure Printable PDF

Students studying Art history will earn a B.A. in Art History and is offered in conjunction with Temple University. The major at Messiah College is designed to give you knowledge of the art and architecture of Europe, Western Asia, and the Western Hemisphere. Upper-level courses will focus on a specific place or period, or will be worked around a theme such as spirituality and abstract art, artists and the theaer, or biblical themes in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

In the junior and senior years, you will spend one to four semesters at Messiah's Philadelphia Campus, where you will take advanced courses from specialists in Temple University's art history department and have access to the city's excellent art museums and galleries. You may qualify for a semester at Temple's Rome program or may choose to participate in another program abroad, perhaps in Athens or London.
