Position Title: Local Community Service Director
Minimum Education Requirement: Master’s Degree Preferred
Responsible to: Director of Agapé Center for Service and Learning/Director of Student
Ministries

Supervises: 22 Students
Responsibilities:
- Serve as advisor to the Outreach Teams and their subsidiary organizations and activities.
- Organize and promote both one-time and on-going local service opportunities. Work with interested individuals and groups, including Faculty, Residence Directors, Residence Assistants, and Life Group leaders, as they seek to become involved in local community service.
- Provide in-service leadership for leaders and participants in local service.
- Work with the Director of the Agapé Center and Outreach Staff to develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, community agencies, and their representatives.
- Plan and conduct appropriate training and reflection sessions for students who participate in service to the local community.
- Coordinate and administer campus-wide service projects, including the annual Service Day (April), Dr. King Community Engagement Day (January), and Into The Streets (August) which involves all new students in service during Welcome Week.
- Work with the Director of Financial Aid and coordinate and oversee the Agapé Center portion of Federal Community Service Work Study funds. Supervise students receiving these funds.
- Plan and administer the Community Volunteer Services budget.
- Assist the Director of Service-Learning in promoting and facilitating service-learning across both the curriculum and the cocurriculum.
- Plan and administer the Fulfilling Chapel Requirement through Service Program.
- Supervise students in association with volunteer services.
- Provide definition and clarification of good practice in local community volunteer service.
- Actively participate as a member of the Agapé Center staff and as a member of the departments of External Programs and College Ministries.
- Work closely with other related College programs, serve on College-wide committees as requested, and participate as a full member of the Messiah College community.
- Other duties assigned by the Director of the Agapé Center for Service and Learning.
Coalition for Christian Outreach Responsibilities
- Meet with CCO supervisor (Area Director or campus director) monthly.
- Attend CCO training events including Staff Seminars, Area Days and Spring Institute.
- Assist campus CCO staff in planning and recruiting for the annual Jubilee Conference held in February.
- Raise personal financial and prayer support.
- Write a plan for ministry each semester centered on CCO specified objections.
- Fully participate as a member of the CCO staff team at Messiah College.
