Each year, Messiah College takes a day off to serve together in our community. There are many jobs that are left undone for lack of helping hands. Maybe you know of a few! We would like to send a team of volunteers your way on Service Day. Take a look at our project guidelines.
Accomplish - because it is a one-time project involving groups of students and college employees, Service Day is a great opportunity to complete large projects that require a lot of helping hands.
Educate - Service Day gives you the chance to "get the word out" about your agency by orienting students to the mission of your agency and the nature of the social problems and issues you address.
Motivate - by hosting a group of students for Service Day you are helping us in our mission of challenging students to become regular volunteers at agencies like yours!

Please review the Messiah College Memo of Understanding for Service Day before registering your project online. Check back after February 2014 for the link to register for Service Day 2014.
Even though a team of volunteers may be coming your way to serve on Service Day, we know that you have a lot to offer them through your experience, knowledge and passions. We want Service Day to be reciprocally helpful for you and each volunteer that visits you!
Locations will include programs which are church related as well as secular, governmental and private, rural and urban. The following criteria will be used to select service sites.
Where possible, please include a learning component to your service project. This might include an introduction to the purpose and program of your agency, an introduction to the needs your agency serves, an introduction to the community, or other educational components.
Activities should be organized to begin after 8:00 a.m. and end by 4:00 p.m. We recommend that service projects extend between 3-5 hours.
In the event of rain or inclement weather, Service Day will be held on a later date. Please call the Messiah College hotline (717.691.6084) after 6:30am the morning of Service Day to hear if it has been rescheduled, or visit www.messiah.edu.
Transportation will be coordinated by the college and will include College vehicles and private cars of participating volunteers. However, if your organization would like to provide transportation, please indicate that on your registration form.
Please indicate on your registration form whether or not your organization will provide lunch for your volunteer team. If you will not be providing lunch, click "bagged lunch" so that we know to prepare these for your team.
A Team Leader (student or employee) will be assigned to your project. He or she will be in contact with you 2 weeks before Service Day in order to confirm any last minute details and update you on participation, etc. If you have questions before then, please contact the Agape Center at 717.856.1800 x7255 or email us at ServiceDay@messiah.edu! Note: On your registration form, you do not need to indicate a Team Leader. Simply fill in "Messiah College" or leave it blank
If you’re interested in receiving information on project registration, please e-mail serviceday@messiah.edu with the name of your organization and your phone number.
