Welcome Into the Streets Community Partners!
On Friday, August 28, 2009 Messiah College will be holding its eleventh annual Into the Streets service plunge day. Into the Streets is a national initiative designed to introduce students to thoughtful community service projects that will challenge them to volunteer on a regular basis. Last year, Messiah College sent 593 first-year and transfer students, peer group leaders, and faculty to work with 37 agencies in the Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Carlisle areas. We’re excited for Into the Streets 2009 and invite you to join in!
Into the Streets has the potential to help you accomplish your goals through a one-time project, educate students about your organization and motivate them to continue service in the future. Each group of 16-17 students will be serving for four hours either in the morning or in the afternoon. As a host for Into the Streets, you would be responsible for designing a meaningful project for the day as well as giving an orientation to help the students understand the mission of your agency and the nature of the social concerns your organization addresses.
If you are interested in hosting a group (or groups) of students, please complete these three steps:
If you have any questions or would like further information please feel free to call the Agapé Center at (717) 796-1800 x7255 or email us at IntoTheStreets@messiah.edu.
