Welcome! We're glad you found us on the web to learn more about what the Agape Center does and how you can get involved! Below are a few ways to explore opportunities you have to partner with Messiah College students and faculty! Into the Streets Each Fall all first year and transfer students participate in a day of service. The mission of Into the Streets is to introduce students to community service at Messiah College and challenge them to volunteer on a regular basis by holding a one-day service program for all incoming students during their first few days at school. Into the Streets is designed to help fulfill Messiah College's mission to prepare students for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society. If you're interested in hosting a site for the day, click here! Service Day Each Spring Messiah College cancels classes and goes out to serve! The mission of Service Day is to encourage students, faculty and staff alike to participate in service and engaging with and contributing to the local community on a personal level. Service Day is designed to help fulfill Messiah College's mission to prepare students for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society. Students serve alongside faculty and college employees in this Service Day. If you're interested in hosting a site for the day, click here! Service Blog We know that there are more needs and events in the community than we could ever hope to manage or organize through our center, but students might still be interested in helping out. That's why we've created a Service Blog for you to post specific dates, times and places along with your direct contact information to let students know about opportunities you have for them to serve. After you submit your post here it will be reviewed and published (please allow 2 days). Outreach Teams Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters students are encouraged to make service a regular part of their weekly schedule. Outreach Teams is a student run organization supervised through the Office of Local Community Service that coordinates these opportunities with Community Partners. To see their current activities and opportunities, go here to see an overview of their current partnerships and then navigate the different categories of service on the left side bar. Below is a list of this year's Community Partners: The Harrisburg Institute The Harrisburg Institute is a collaborative program of Messiah College linking urban learning and service through a living-learning community, coursework, and research. The College’s downtown presence provides residential housing, classroom, and office space. The Institute is located at the corner of Dewberry and Blackberry Streets, just south of Strawberry Square in the city of Harrisburg.
