Companionship Ministries

"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

John 13:35

Bethany Village

Mission: Bethany Village's mission is to promote a caring community for those in elderhood guided by the values of the Christian faith in the United Methodist Tradition. To provide quality service in a secure environment while nurturing wholeness and dignity.

Volunteering: This team visits with the Bethany Village Retirement Center weekly and lends some love to a group of residents by leading a group activity in the hospitality room.

When: Tuesday nights 6:00-8:00pm

Maplewood Assisted Living

Mission: Maplewood's mission is identical to Bethany Village's mission: to promote a caring community for those in elderhood guided by the values of the Christian faith in the United Methodist Tradition. To provide quality service in a secure environment while nurturing wholeness and dignity.

Volunteering: This team visits with residents of a memory support neighborhood each week to experience fellowship and FUN with the residents of Maplewood. The residents really enjoy the Messiah students visits and its a great way to get involved with older adults.

When: Wednesday nights 6:15-8:00pm

Messiah Village

Mission: Messiah Village is a ministry, founded by the Brethren In Christ Church, that seeks to responsibly enhance the lives of older adults with Christ-like love.

Values: Compassion, Honesty, Enthusiasm, Efficiency, and Creativity

Volunteering: This team visits with residents of Messiah Village each week to build close friendships with older adults on a more personal level. Form a one-on-one relationship with a resident!

When: Thursday nights 6:15-8:00pm

  Promise Place Women's Halfway House

Mission: Promise Place has grown to meet the needs of paroled women who have no home, no job and little or no help with their children and families. Promise Place offers the residents structure and teaches responsibility for reintegration back into society as productive members of the community. Resident's are assisted with GED preparation, job readiness, job search and referals , drug and alcohol treatment, etc. Residents also participate in community service and small group activities during their 6-12 month stay.

Volunteering: This team visits with the women at Promise Place building relationships and accountability through small group activities. The team will get to know the women by talking, sharing, and relating with one another. We try to build in some quality devotional or story time and take prayer requests. This is a great opportunity for Messiah students to offer the women love and support and show them that there are people caring and praying for them.

When: Thursdays 6-8 pm from Eisenhower Circle.
