Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be involved?
Any Messiah college student can participate on a trip. No prior experience is needed. Additionally faculty members may participate, but on a limited basis so as to allow students.

When are Service Trips sent out?
Service Trips sends multiple teams out during Fall Break, J-Term Break, and Spring Break. This year's trip dates are as follows:

• Fall Break: October 11-14
• J-Term: January 31 - February 3
• Spring Break: March 14th or 15th until 20th or 21st

Where do Service Trips go?
Service Trip teams travel to various places within the Eastern United States. These teams work with existing service organizations in a wide range of settings including anywhere from the rural areas of Appalachia and New Hampshire to urban areas such as New York City, Washington DC, Chicago and Toronto, Canada. Does it cost anything to go?
Yes, there is a small fee for each participant. These fees cover all transportation, food, and housing for the trip. For Fall Break and J-term break, the cost is $50. For Spring Break, the cost is $125.

Who leads Service Trips?
None of these service projects can occur unless the Service Trip Teams have qualified student leaders who are willing to take the responsibility of leading the group. Extensive training is provided for all leaders. If you are interested in possibly leading a trip, contact us for more information.

How do I get involved?
Once you have decided that you want to go on a Service Trip, you will need to fill out and return an application. Applications are generally available a month prior to the trip date and can be obtained by stopping by the Agape Center or online by selecting the Applications link. All applications, as well as trip deposits, must be submitted three weeks before the trip leaves.
